Stormwater Drainage Improvements
The Stormwater Committee, Chaired by Councilwoman Hornsby, has identified areas within the town that require improvement. Throughout the town there are areas where ditches need to be cleaned and at a few specific locations, drain pipes are needed under drives. The Committee recognizes this work as being inexpensive and requiring immediate attention. Mr. Doub has contacted companies licensed within the Town to secure pricing for these improvements. It appears that an hourly plus materials pricing is preferred. The Committee requested that Council approve not to exceed $5,000 for Storm Water Improvements. The scope of work will include: clearing of ditches and installation of drive culverts where needed; authorize Mr. Doub to write licensed contractors within the Town for competitive pricing, choose a contractor with oversight and approval of Councilwoman Hornsby and Administrator Woods. Mr. Doub will supervise these improvements. Administrator Woods recommended that Hospitality fees be used for this authorization.
The Committee identified more than one grant source that may be used to make storm water improvements; however, applications must be supported with professional plans and recommendations. To this end the committee requested that Council authorize the Town to advertise for Requests for Qualifications in an effort to choose an engineering firm to provide professional services. Before contracting with any firm, the Committee will bring a recommendation back to the Council.
Councilwoman Hornsby moved that Council approve not to exceed $5,000 for Storm Water Improvements. She further moved to authorize Mr. Doub to write licensed contractors within the Town for competitive pricing and choose a contractor with oversight and approval of Councilwoman Hornsby and Administrator Woods. Hospitality fees will be used for this authorization. The motion was seconded by Councilman Anderson, and carried with a unanimous vote. |
